The importance of Information

The information and data held within a business is becoming more and more important.

A few years ago I came home from work to find the windows of my house had been cleaned and a card was on the mat asking me to make payment. This came as a slight surprise to me as I had never engaged the services of a window cleaner.

I called the number on the card and during a very polite conversation the window cleaner explained that he had purchased the ‘window cleaning round’ from another person and our property had been included on the list.

The business man explained this had now developed into a pattern and I was amongst a few similar calls he had received.

On that occasion it was apparent that the person selling the business had inflated the value of his business, however it could so easily have been the opposite too.

Someone that does not record their client information in the right way will not maximise the value from the business they have worked so hard to build.

How we can help

In a recent business sale scenario the business owners we were working for understood that in order to sell their Financial Services business they had to achieve real clarity on the accuracy of their client list. We worked on improving the detail and also the way in which that client information could be shared.

As a result they gained the ability to demonstrate the complete control they had over their client information. The result was –

  • Improved business Reputation
  • Maximised Sale Value
